It's the final countdown

In about 48 hours, Lori and I will be getting married, and (hopefully) you’ll be there watching! We are very excited for the wedding and reception we have planned and we are thrilled to see so many of our wonderful friends and family! There will be surprises (oh yes!) and smiles, happy tears and laughs, and we cannot wait!

As you know, the wedding is Friday at 5:00 pm, so get there a little early. (Doors will open at 4:30.) You should have our invitation, but for more in-depth directions, check out Platte Woods United Methodist Church on Google Maps or look on the Locations page.

If you have any questions about the wedding or the reception, feel free to email Lori and I at wedding@tylerandlori.com or call/text us if you have our number. Please drive safely and enjoy Kansas City if you have the chance. We will see you (very) soon!

Generosity

It is hard to believe that there are only a few weeks left before the big day!  Tyler and I are so excited to celebrate our special day with family and friends.  As most of you know by now, Tyler and I won the royal wedding giveaway from Union Station.  This prize package not only included a reception at Union Station, but also a generous gift from Nolte’s Bridal in Kansas City.  Nolte’s Bridal is a couture bridal salon with two locations in the Kansas City area.  Michael Nolte was kind enough to meet me a few weeks ago at his salon in Briarcliff Village.  Even though I already had my dress picked out, I was able to try on veils and accessories with my dress.  After trying on a few items, I selected a beautiful veil Michael Nolte actually designed himself!  Michael has been a true blessing, and I cannot wait for Tyler to see my new veil and headpiece on our wedding day!

Union Station excitement!

Whew! It’s been a busy few weeks! If you haven’t heard, Lori and I won the Royal Wedding Giveaway thanks to your help! We’d really love to thank everyone who voted, and we can’t wait to spend the day with you!

We recently had lunch with some of the amazing people at Union Station who helped plan this generous promotion. We’re very excited to be working with them, and we know we’ll have an amazing wedding reception at Union Station.

However, this unexpected (but definitely not unwanted!) development has caused a minor change in plans. Because of booking issues, we’ve changed our wedding date to Friday, August 5, 2011 at 5:00 pm. This is a day earlier than we had previously planned, but we’re very excited for the new options this opens up.

We will be sending our invitations out in a few days, and we are extremely excited to share our (new and improved!) day with you!

Getting closer

Phew!  It has been a crazy past few weeks!  As many of you know, I am finishing up my dietetic internship right now and taking graduate classes at KU Med.  Like the other interns have also experienced, my schedule has allowed very little time for much else besides school and work.  But finally this past week I finished up one of my rotations early, so now I have about a 3 week ‘break’ where I can just focus on classes and planning the wedding!!  Tyler and I have really taken advantage of this time.  We now have a much clearer picture of how the wedding will flow, what the decorations will look like, and how we will welcome our guests (aka you)!  Tyler has been working on creating the invitations and programs for the ceremony.  He is super-talented, so I am positive you all will be impressed with his creations!

I absolutely love working and planning events with Tyler.  He has really great ideas and doesn’t mind how scatter-brained I can be at times!  The more we plan, the more and more excited I become about our life together!

Our progress so far

If you’re reading this, you most likely got here from our save-the-dates. Have you saved it yet?!

Getting these save-the-dates in your hands is one of the exciting first steps in the road to our wedding. Other milestones we’ve already reached include the following:

  • Our first round of engagement photos (oh yes, there will be more…) was taken by our friend Kristen. We explored downtown Parkville, Missouri, on a cold, sunny day, and she took quite a few shots of us goofing off. Afterward, I edited them and posted them to Facebook. (They’re also available on the Photographs page of this site.)
  • We built this wedding site to keep you all up-to-date. (We got lucky that there wasn’t another Tyler and Lori who wanted this domain name!)
  • Lori picked out her dress. She’s actually trying it on today! (Meaning her dress, not the too-big one they have at the store.)
  • We set our wedding party and told them they are in… always an important step.
  • Lori and Heather (her sister and Maid of Honor) picked the bridesmaids’ dresses, and I picked out the tuxedos for my groomsmen and myself.
  • We’ve booked the church and reception locations. And we’re really excited about both!
  • We’ve also researched a lot of options for the details of the day. But we’ll keep these a secret for now… Some things are just better as a surprise!

We’re thrilled to be sharing our lives with all of you, and we can’t wait to celebrate on August 6!
